The state of Ohio is no stranger to football success, at many different levels of the sport. The support the state's general population gives from the NFL ranks all the down to Pee-wee Football is unquestionable. Even the Cleveland Browns and Cincinati Bengals bring great passionate, faithful fans, even when the team's success seems bleak. The setting for Ohio high school football could be compared to great iconic films, such as, "Varsity Blues", or "Friday Night Lights". Ohio football is rich in tradition, and fan bases travel in very large numbers, even on away games. One of the state of Ohio's under-the-radar prospects in Class of 2013 is Running Back, Emerson Buckland.
Emerson attends Medina high school in Medina, Ohio, and stands 6'0", 210 lbs. He excels at running back, and plays linebacker, as well as special teams. Medina is a city in Northern Ohio, which holds a population of just over 25,000 residents. At Medina, Emerson Buckland has a career of 268 rushing attempts, for nearly 1900 yards, and 17 TD's. He is a sleeper prospect to colleges probably because his teams record was only 4-6, but Medina High is one to keep an eye on for the 2012 season. Emerson has no current college scholarship offers, but the recruit has a 3.6 GPA, and would like to pursue medicine as a possible major at a college or university. The Medina Bees football team plays in the Division I classification, which is the highest high school level a team can play in the state of Ohio. Basically, any school with 494 students or more enrolled, they are placed in Division I (For Football Only). This may sound like a stretch, but most of Ohio's towns are very rural, and spread out. This process also evens out each of the six division classes the OHSAA (Ohio High School Athletic Association) represents.
